The importance of learning Greek and ensuring our kids take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way is so that their heritage is not lost.
One must embrace it and appreciate the opportunity to be able to converse in a second language.
They are fortunate to have such rich heritage and culture. It would be a great shame to see future generations, not embrace and continue the Greek Language, whilst foreigners show greater appreciation.
One must never lose the roots which they came from. It is almost like losing a sense of one self…..

This year, at the age of 74, I passed my first Greek language exam. It brings me closer to understanding Greek history, culture and people. I continue to discover the influence of Ancient Greece on how we think and act today. I learn of the many Greek words that have entered the English language. And I have experienced the special friendliness that emanates from trying to speak to Greek people in their own language and of the patience and guidance they have shown me as I strive to improve my knowledge of the language. I still have a lot to learn, and that is the challenge.
